Diana and Jackie: Maidens, Mothers,
Myths
by Jay Mulvaney
Sheepskin case,
cloth covered chemise and slipcase, enclosures of faux diamonds and
pearls.
Inspired
by Monique Lallier’s Chemise and Slipcase
presentation to Guild of Bookworkers 2002 Standards of Excellence
Conference in
Minneapolis, this piece is a study for a larger project that will
include an
entire wardrobe of chemises to clothe a biography of Jacqueline
Kennedy. The
case’s flesh-colored pearlescent sheepskin references the body; the
ivory
brocade chemise, lingerie; and the black cloth slipcase a formal gown.
