Wind, Sand and Stars
by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, First English language edition, 1940.
French-style binding sewn onto five splayed cords laced into boards. Marbled flyleaves and sunk-in suede doublures. Navy, platinum, and copper hand-sewn silk endbands. Edge hand-colored with acrylics. Covered in full terra cotta Oasis goatskin with blind tooling.

This book was given to my husband by his father upon his graduation from high school. More than the infinite value of its contents is the greater importance of a book as a metaphor for life. As a means of transferring what is important from a father to a son. As a book that should be read against the confusion of this world.  2005
